About the Role:
SOLARCYCLE is looking for a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Research Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Lab Manager to ensure safe and efficient operations in our high-temperature glass melting and R&D environment. Your work will involve batching and melting glass, conducting property measurements, and organizing and sharing data with the glass R&D team. This is a hands-on role that is critical to our ongoing research and development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Safety in High-Temperature Environments:
- Maintain a strong focus on safety while conducting experiments in a high-temperature glass melting and R&D environment.
- Follow and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Glass Batching and Melting:
- Prepare glass batches according to specified formulations.
- Operate and monitor glass melting processes, ensuring accuracy and consistency in material preparation.
- Conduct Property Measurements:
- Perform glass property measurements using various tools and equipment, including TGA-DSC, dilatometer, and spindle viscometer.
- Ensure data accuracy and reliability in all measurements.
- Data Organization and Sharing:
- Organize and document experimental data in a clear and systematic manner.
- Share data and insights with the glass R&D team to support ongoing research and development projects.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Strong focus on safety and experience working in high-temperature environments.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate technical information clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience in glass batching, melting, and property measurement.
- Familiarity with operating TGA-DSC, dilatometer, and spindle viscometer equipment.
- Experience in an R&D or industrial glass setting.
- Fundamental knowledge of glass science and materials characterization.
