Climate Measurement Process Engineer
About Neutreeno
We built Neutreeno to transform business at speed and scale by revolutionising decarbonisation. Our innovative software, backed by cutting-edge science from the University of Cambridge, transforms how companies understand and reduce their emissions. By leveraging decades of research in resource and emissions flow data mapping, we identify the most impactful areas for emissions reduction, enabling companies to make strategic, data-driven decisions.
Working alongside leading sustainability scientists from the IPCC and IEA who shape international climate policy, we're creating a new paradigm in decarbonization technology. Our approach has already been adopted by the world's largest companies. With our recent $5M seed round led by US investors specializing in sustainability and circularity, and coverage in ESGPost, YahooFinance, BusinessWeekly, and a nomination for the Earthshot Award, we're ready to grow.
The Role
As a Climate Measurement Process Engineer at Neutreeno, you'll spearhead the implementation of our novel methodologies for scientifically measuring greenhouse gas emissions across complex industrial processes. Working across diverse sectors – from jet engine production to electricity transmission and EV battery manufacturing – you'll collaborate with our data science and modelling teams to identify real-time emission hotspots and accelerate decarbonisation pathways. This role involves presenting findings, discussing methodologies, and guiding emission reduction strategies directly with industry leaders. You'll engage with sustainability officers and senior leaders, leveraging your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to drive sustainability initiatives. This position offers unique opportunities to shape decarbonisation across industries while learning from and working alongside leading experts in various sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and refine methodologies for measuring carbon emissions across various industrial processes and supply chains
Oversee company primary data collection (including helping users navigate our system and validating data gaps) to map process flows and identify emission sources
Analyse, sense-check and interpret mass, energy and emissions data outputs (in some cases using advanced statistical techniques and modelling tools)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate in emissions measurements including both model development and creating new technological product features
Contribute to client reports and presentations to communicate the value of our solution while also translating technical findings into actionable insights for them
Decarbonise supply chains by supporting companies in identifying, tracking and sharing decarbonisation gains across their value chains
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
2+ years of experience in process engineering or lifecycle analysis (LCA) / product carbon footprints (PCFs), preferably with a focus on carbon accounting or emissions reduction
Strong understanding of industrial processes, energy systems, and carbon accounting principles
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, Power Query)
Familiarity with relevant emissions standards and protocols (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, CBAM)
Decarbonisation here or in preferred
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
This we might want to change
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies
Expertise in greenhouse gas accounting at both corporate and product levels, including familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, PAS 2050)
Familiarity with general machine learning techniques or applied to process optimisation
