Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of mechanical, electrical, and general repair tasks to ensure equipment and facility operations run smoothly. This role requires a safety-focused, dependable, and hands-on individual who can troubleshoot issues efficiently in an industrial recycling environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on facility equipment and systems
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and complete necessary corrective actions
- Operate and maintain basic hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Conduct preventive maintenance according to established schedules and procedures
- Assist with installation, assembly, and testing of new equipment or components
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repair logs
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and company policies
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and provide cross-departmental support as needed
- Work in a recycling facility where conditions may be dirty, dusty, noisy, and physically demanding
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license (required for operating company vehicles and traveling between work sites)
- Mechanical experience, including troubleshooting and repairing equipment
- Electrical experience such as basic wiring, component replacement, or system testing
- Basic understanding of hand tools and safe operating procedures
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physical tasks regularly
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Willingness to work in a hands-on, industrial recycling environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, manufacturing, or recycling environment
- Knowledge of plumbing or industrial equipment
- Certifications in electrical, mechanical, or maintenance-related fields (a plus, not required)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and remain on feet for extended periods, including full shifts
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds regularly (heavier items with team assistance)
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting
- Ability to walk throughout warehouse and production areas on concrete floors
- Ability to grip, grasp, and handle tools, materials, pallets, and equipment
- Visual and auditory ability to safely perform maintenance tasks in a noisy environment
- Comfort working around moving equipment, dust, temperature changes, and industrial conditions
- Ability to safely climb in and out of forklifts or pits
- Stamina to perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
