AMP is hiring an experienced Project Engineer reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering with a weekly mix of in-person and work from home days. This person can work hybrid out of our Louisville, CO headquarters, or live in the Portsmouth, Virginia area and be able to commute in to our Portsmouth, VA plant periodically.

In this role, the Project Engineer will be responsible for CAD work, documentation, and vendor communication to convey and validate design requirements. Additionally, the Project Engineer will collaborate with project managers and engineers across the AMP organization to ensure timely execution of engineering tasks and equipment procurement to meet facility installation deadlines.

As a Project Engineer at AMP, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead third party equipment selection, approval and design validation: fitment checks, adherence to design/maintenance/operational specifications, and drawing sign offs.
  • Construct and validate bills of materials.
  • Review engineering drawings for chutes, transitions, and structures. Ensure designs meet requirements, contain correct meta data, and can be easily fabricated.
  • Review and approve ECOs in Arena PLM system.
  • Collaborate with project managers on schedule, reporting, and production release for procurement.
  • Update and maintain facility design requirement documentation in collaboration with operations and maintenance.
  • Create tools and processes that make design requirements easy to reference and follow, automating adherence where possible.
  • Document as-built deviations and maintain as-built documentation.
  • Review systems to ensure adherence to all local OSHA, ASTM, and structural codes and standards.

The successful candidate will have:

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of industry experience in mechanical or project engineering roles, with a strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in CAD design, with experience in SolidWorks.
  • Eagerness to learn and adaptable, with drive to succeed in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Experience with Solidworks PDM and Arena, or other, similar PDM and PLM platforms.
  • Ability to persevere through challenges and demonstrate reliability in meeting project deadlines.
  • Team-oriented approach, with excellent communication skills and a willingness to take ownership of projects and present them to internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of industrial equipment or machine automation experience.
  • Experience in system design and analysis.
  • Exposure to research and design processes, preferably in the context of waste management or recycling technologies.
  • Experience working with large industrial equipment.
  • Hands-on skills for pitching in on builds or testing when needed.
  • Passion for the environment and recycling, with demonstrated experience in related projects or initiatives.
  • Knowledge or experience with robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence.
  • Previous involvement in startup environments and a track record of contributing to their success.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent combination of technical experience and work experience.

Working Location(s):

  • Hybrid or full time in-office at AMP’s Louisville, CO HQ
  • Living in the Portsmouth, VA area with ability to commute into Portsmouth plant as needed

Salary & Compensation Information: $110,000 - $125,000 per year

Equity Grant: The candidate selected for this role will be recommended for a stock option grant commensurate with the position and the candidate’s qualifications.
