AMP is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic Technician in Portsmouth, Virginia.
A maintenance mechanic is responsible for the entire operating facility, repairs, and preventative maintenance (PM), as well as special projects. In addition, the maintenance mechanic is responsible for maintaining all heavy equipment in the facility including balers, sort line, loaders, forklifts. This will include regularly scheduled PM as well as minor repairs on all facility equipment. Inspect the building, grounds, and equipment. The maintenance mechanic works under
the supervision of the Plant Manager.
As a Maintenance Mechanic Technician, you will work to:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all processing and support systems to specifications consistent with all Federal and State fire, safety and environmental regulations.
- Resolve technical issues presented throughout a shift, investigate and identify a solution.
- Increase equipment reliability through ownership of continuous improvement and preventive maintenance.
- Demonstrate and lead by example a commitment to safe behavior and to making the plant a safer place to work. Support/drive hazard identification, risk assessments, and risk controls efforts.
- Coordinate with Plant Manager and operations closely
- Support preoperative and postoperative inspection of the equipment and ensure necessary repairs are entered and actioned within the CMMS.
- Act as emergency coordinator for the plant.
- Adheres to and ensures all company, and regulatory safety standards and rules are followed
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have:
Required:
- Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification. Technical certifications are highly desired.
- 3 (or more) years of direct experience maintaining same or similar machinery, in a production or processing environment
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic systems
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components
- Experience reading technical drawings and schematics
- Motor and Gearbox replacements
- VFD trouble shooting
Preferred:
- Experience with industrial controls (valves, sensors, actuators, control systems, Electro Hydraulic Experience, conveyor (tracking), rollers.
- Experience selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, VFD and servo systems.

Hourly Rate Information: $33.00 - 37.50, possibility for overtime
Equity Grant: The candidate selected for this role will be recommended for a stock option grant commensurate with the position and the candidate’s qualifications.
